Atari 2600 Dig Dug Game Cartridge
(Atari - 1987)
Dig Dug was such a unique game in the arcades I frequented in my youth. Though it wasn't the greatest game, I still dropped a few quarters into it from time to time just to inflate and pop the occasional underground fire breathing lizard Fygar. Or drop a boulder on some unsuspecting subterranean Pooka.
You must use your jet-powered shovel to dig tunnels and destroy the meanies you encounter along the way. For bonus points, various root vegetables appear that you must snack on.
Because this one is so faithful to the original it rates well with me. I would rate the gameplay for this one at 7-10 and the controls a 9-10. So my overall rating of 8-10 means that this game is great romp into a unique genre of gaming history.

Dig Dug for the Atari 2600 is a fine port of Namco's arcade classic and does well to capture the feel of it's arcade counterpart with the sounds and graphics matching up quite well but not perfectly to the arcade but there is no doubt you know you are playing here as Atari with most of there arcade to 2600 ports did a great job with this one...One of my favorites and just lots of fun to play.
