Atari 2600 Pacman Game Cartridge

(Atari - 1981)

Atari 2600 Pacman game cartridge.
No self respecting home gaming console would be complete without this classic arcade icon. Pac-man was the staple of all game consoles in the 1980's. This port of the Namco classic was fairly decent, and the gameplay was similar to that of the full sized arcade game. You could play with either one or two players.
Using your joystick controller, you must guide Pac-Man through a maze on the screen eating dots as you avoid the four ghosts. Eating a power pill will allow you to eat the ghosts for a short period of time.
The maze is not very faithful to the original, but you still get a feel for the game. I would rate the gameplay for this one at 6-10 and the controls a 7-10. So my overall rating of 6-10 means that this game is slightly above average, but is fun for the nostalgia.

Ah Pac-Man for the Atari 2600...I played this game alot as a kid and i seem to remember not being bothered by the fact this was far from being a perfect port of Namco's arcade original but fast forward to the now and i have mixed feelings with it knowing that given more time Atari could of made this game so much better but still being a fan of Pac-Man and having those memories from my youth draws back to it every time i go to pick a game to play on my 2600.
