Atari 2600 Pole Position Game Cartridge
(Atari - 1983)
Pole Position was one of those games that defined a genre in arcade history. Whenever you think of arcade racing games it is undoubtedly on the top of the list. I spent quite a bit of time in the arcades racing to get pole position.
This Atari 2600 version is pretty faithful to the original and just as much fun. Turn left and right as you accelerate through the turns while passing challengers. But be careful not to crash or precious time id taken off your lap. Come in first place and you get the coveted first slot, or pole position, in the next race.
As far as racing games go, this one is tops in my book. I would rate the gameplay for this one at 8-10 and the controls a 8-10. So my overall rating of 8-10 means that this game is a great diversion, especially when competing against a friend.

Just wanted to point out that this game was originally released in 1983. The '87 or '88 date you see was the re-release of it is all (Atari commonly re-released their discontinued games throughout the late 80's and even changed their labels to fit the 2600 Jr's marketing better).
Ironically though, back when this was first released, my Uncle had purchased a Colecovision just so he could get his daughter a Cabbage Patch doll that was to be given free with every system purchase. Worked out perfectly since stores were out of the dolls separately and he happened to have a son whom he gave the Colecovision to. I don't know when he purchased the Atari 2600 adapter, but I remember playing many an Atari game on what was supposed to be the greatest gaming console ever. lol Pole Position and Venture were two we logged hours in whenever we'd visit our Uncle and Grandmother.

Pole Position is one of those games that i have strong memories of playing at the arcades in both sit down and stand up versions as well as that dang 80s cartoon with the catchy theme song! But it was pretty cool and thrilling when i got a hold of the the 2600 version of PP like with other 2600 arcade ports i was jumping up and down with the thought of playing game just the week before i had played at the bowling alley or mall and while not as good as those versions the 2600 one does please.
