Atari 2600 Robin Hood/Sir Lancelot Game Cartridge

(Xonox - 1983)

Atari 2600 Robin Hood/Sir Lancelot game cartridge.
The Robin Hood / Sir Lancelot double ended game cartridge by Xonox gives you two exciting games on one cartridge which doubles your fun. The cartridge plugs into your Atari 2600 and you simply flip it around and plug in the other end to play the other game. Xonox pioneered the "Double Ender" cartridges with this concept and their slogan "Twice the fun for the price of one!".
In Robin Hood, you play Robin in medieval England, trying to fight the injustice of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. The Sheriff is overtaxing the poor and has hoarded their gold inside his castle. He is also holding the lovely Maid Marian against her will inside the castle walls. Your goal... to save Maid Marian and steal the gold back for the peasants. You have to cross the dangerous Sherwood Forest where the Sheriff's henchmen lie in wait. Then you must move on to the castle gate where you must battle your way into the castle. Be sure not to shoot your own Merry Men and be careful, they occasionally mistake you for one of the henchmen... after all, fighting with bows and arrows is pretty dangerous!
In Sir Lancelot, you ride your winged horse Pegasus (crickets chirping) on a quest to save a poor maiden that is being held prisoner in a castle by an evil fire-breathing dragon. As your journey begins, winged creatures will try to kill you, but they are no match for your charmed lance (oh gawd, the puns). You collect points for each creature destroyed and when they are are vanquished, you reach the castle and must face the dragon. The crafty dragon will not fight you outright, he has seen how you devastated the creatures outside, so he will breathe his fire at you from behind a magic screen. The fire won't kill you, but it will temporarily stun Pegasus so he cannot flap his wings. Once you kill the dragon with your lance, you save the maiden. But be wary, once the dragon is killed, you'll face new creatures guarding the next castle, and these defenders will have heard of your exploits and be more difficult slay and so will the dragon. I mean come on, is this maiden TRYING to get captured over and over?
It is pretty neat to have two games in one cartridge, keep in mind that your game is not truly complete unless you have the protective cap that comes with the game to protect the side you are not playing from dust. I would rate the gameplay for this one at 6-10 and the controls a 7-10. So my overall rating of 6-10 means that this game is pretty playable, though the games get pretty repetitive.
