Donkey Kong Jr Coleco Tabletop Arcade - Model 2398X
(Coleco - 1983)
Unfortunately this awesome looking Donkey Kong Jr mini arcade cabinet mockup houses a neat little version of the arcade smash hit, Donkey Kong, not Donkey Kong Jr. The egg shaped joystick is easily manipulated by your left thumb and is responsive and auto centers quickly. Your right thumb or finger operates the jump button. The small multi-color VFD screen (vacuum fluorescent display) is vivid and bright, but is still big enough to show the action without feeling cramped. The cabinet is constructed of sturdy plastic.
The colorful graphics are reminiscent of the stand up arcade hit, Donkey Kong Junior. I had a blast photographing this awesome little game, and even more fun adding it to my collection.
The battery compartment underneath the unit is easily lost, and has a mini set of instructions adhered to it for Donkey Kong, not Donkey Kong Jr. It holds four C cell batteries or Coleco's optional Perma Power AC power adapter.

Wow i just recently got a Coleco DK JR. table top electronic game and really enjoy it but seeing this mock up of what could of been makes me want one like this instead of the "Nintendo" style i have now. It is too bad Coleco went this route instead of sticking to what was working for them maybe they would of produce more of these awesome little units.
