Commodore 64 Dig Dug Game Cartridge

(Thunder Mountain - 1983)

Commodore 64 Dig Dug Cartridge
One of the more interesting arcade games to come out of the 1980's was Dig Dug. The concept of the game was to destroy the underground monsters found in caverns and destroy them.
You are armed with unconventional weapons, including an air pump and underground boulders. As you dig tunnels through the earth, you must either inflate the monsters until they pop or drop boulders on their unsuspecting heads. You can also momentarily stun the monsters by partially inflating them. The more tunneling you do, the higher your score... but if you destroy all but one monster, he will try to escape to the surface to end the level.
The graphics and gameplay for this version of Dig Dug are strikingly similar to the real arcade game, which makes this game that much more fun. I give this video game two thumbs up and rate the gameplay 8-10 and the controls at 9-10... so overall the Commodore 64 version of Dig Dug ranks a easy 8-10 for me.
