Commodore 64 Robotron 2084 Game Cartridge
(Atarisoft - 1983)
Robotron 2084 was a favorite of mine in the arcades. Not because I was very good at it, but because my little brother could play for hours on one quarter on it. It was great to watch him take on screen after screen of robots... I'm not sure but I don't think he ever blinked.
In Robotron, you are a mutant human with the ability to shoot energy blasts in any direction. You must use that ability to save the humans from their own creations, the Robotrons. Even though you have only one joystick, the gameplay mirrors the actual arcade game well. Gameplay is intense and I don't think there is another game from the 1980's that has so many things moving on the same screen that you have to keep track of.
This is one of the best ports of Robotron 2084 that I had played on any home platform. I would rank gameplay for this classic at 9-10 and the controls at 7-10. Overall the Commodore 64 version of Robotron 2084 rates an 8-10.
