The game play for the Pink Panther game is pretty quick. The small LCD screen features a multi-level platform that you must climb to arrest the Pink Panther. He is at the top rolling bombs down toward you. Avoid them at all costs or it is over for you and your fellow inspectors will ridicule you and you will be stuck with a desk job or directing traffic!
You will definitely get that "familiar" feel when you play it... and will walk away with a strong Donkey Kong vibe when you are done, but it is still a kick for Pink Panther fans.
Movement is a little tricky but once you get used to it it is a snap. You move only one space for each time you move the joystick. So if you want to move to the left two spaces you must push the joystick left twice.
When you are not playing the game it defaults to demonstration mode, where it shows the time and the game plays on its own.
Using the mode button you can select time, game or clock setup. I do not have the instructions for the game so it was a little tricky setting up the clock, but I managed to fumble my way through the process. If anyone has an instruction manual they could sell me or scan for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
I caught myself playing this great little game for hours, indicating to me that it has the addictive quality you want in a game packed into such a small unit. The faithfulness to the original game should be praised. So overall, in my opinion I give this game a solid 8-10 for playability that you rarely find in a vintage handheld game.
