GCE Vectrex Light Pen - Model VT-3600

(GCE - 1983)

Vectrex Arcade Light Pen Accessory
One of the most fascinating accessories for the Vectrex is the Light Pen. It gives an interactive experience to the Vectrex by allowing you to draw and animate vector graphics on the built in screen.
The thing that made the light pen so fantastic was that it was truly interactive and reactive. Instead of playing a pre-programmed game you could create your own works of art, animate your creations or compose your own tunes.
There were only three cartridges released for the Vectrex light pen. Art Master, which was bundled with the light pen, allowed you to create your own vector graphics in real time... Melody Master, which allowed you to create your own music... and Animaction, which allowed you to create your own animations on the vector monitor.
Vectrex Arcade Mail Plane BoxOne other game was planned and completed 100% but never released was Mail Plane. Billed as an educational game, it allowed you to plot your course to deliver packages to different cities then take off, fly to your destination avoiding clouds and bad weather then land at your destination. mail Plane was the closest thing the Vectrex would have had to a flight simulator. This game was considered vaporware for a long time until recently, as a few Mail Plane prototype cartridges have been found in the wild.
Another third party program designed for the Vectrex light pen was released on Sean Kelly's multicart, Engine Analyzer. It was not a game, it was meant for auto shops to aid in engine diagnostic tasks.
