Gameplay for the Frogger Handheld Game

(Halion - 1982)
Halion Frogger Handheld LCD ScreenThe game play for the Frogger game is fast paced and exciting, the small LCD screen features the familiar road and river that are easily identified as staples of any Frogger game.
Just as in the original arcade game, you must navigate your frog across the road, avoiding the cars rushing past. Once you have successful navigated the traffic, you must then hop across the river on the logs and turtles that float past, to the safety of your lilypads.
Movement is a little tricky but once you get used to it it is a breeze. You move only one space for each time you move the joystick. So if you want to move to the left two spaces you must push the joystick left twice.
When you are not playing the game it defaults to demonstration mode, where it shows the time and the game plays on its own.
Using the mode button you can select time, game or clock setup. I do not have the instructions for the game so it was a little tricky setting up the clock, but I managed to fumble my way through the process. If anyone has an instruction manual they could sell me or scan for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
I caught myself playing this great little game for hours, indicating to me that it has the addictive quality you want in a game packed into such a small unit. The faithfulness to the original game should be praised. So overall, in my opinion I give this game a solid 8-10 for playability that you rarely find in a vintage handheld game.
