Mattel Aquarius 16k Memory Cartridge - Model 4215

(Mattel Electronics - June 1983)

Aquarius 16k Memory Cartridge
The 16k memory cartridge expanded the total memory of the Aquarius computer to 20k, bringing the system up to an acceptable level for most of the recreational programmers of the era. Like the 4k memory cartridge it also utilized the computer's cartridge port as a means to access the extended memory. However, if your Aquarius lacked a mini expander or a data recorder, you couldn't make much use of it other than typing in larger basic programs that would be lost the moment you turned the computer off.
The Aquarius mini expander was required to run both software and the memory cartridges simultaneously. The 16k memory cartridge provided better expandability than the 4k cartridge, making the system more useable to the programmers of that era.
